An easy to use portable satellite dish kit with elevation
guide, specially designed by installers for the caravan and camping
market.
The dish is self contained, does not require any poles, brackets,
mounts or tools, it will work on flat or sloping ground and can be
temporarily secured once positioned.
After use it packs away to around
half the size of most other portable systems currently on the
market.
All you need is a Sky receiver
to view
BBC, ITV etc plus the many other free channels (200+) or
subscription channels.
Why This Design? The unique design of the supporting legs allows the dish to be set
up very quickly and accurately especially on sloping ground, all this is
achieved very easily with the aid of built in spirit bubbles, IE: when
the bubble is level the elevation is correct.
Most satellite dishes require a securely
fixed pole or tripod to support the dish, the Fast Finder Kit overcomes this by using the
legs to support the weight of the dish face. This avoids the need for rigid poles
and tripods and results in a very sturdy, rigid construction.
The dish can be used as a freestanding dish on concrete etc or
pegged into the earth for extra stability.
Where Can I Use This? In trials we have located the Sky satellite signal from Scotland
down to Mid France with excellent results, some of our customers have
used this dish in S France and have also received the Sky
signals.
NB: A number of Sky channels can still be received as far down as South
Spain, however the local UK channels (BBC, ITV etc) will become very
weak and require a much larger dish. Our Sky
Abroad page provides further details.

Step 1 (Find
your Location)
Step 2
(Set the elevation guide)
To
receive Sky satellite TV the compass bearing and the
degrees of elevation are normally required, this can
vary depending on your location in the UK. As you travel
further South, the dish needs to be elevated at a
higher angle, these maps show the precise elevation
angle and the compass bearing required for any location
within the UK two laminated A4 maps are provided.
Position the satellite dish on the ground pointing
roughly in the direction of the satellite, this does not
need to be accurate as it can be adjusted later.
Once
you have the correct elevation angle from the map, set
the elevation guide by loosening the handle (A) slide
the bracket to the correct angle and tighten.
This is a very simple but effective device, for the
technically minded the elevation guide is only accurate
if the pole is vertical. The spirit level ensures the
pole is vertical also the bracket has been pre-calibrated to take into account the offset
angle of the dish.
Step 3
(Adjust for uneven ground)
Step 4 (Move
dish to the correct elevation)
If
the dish is unduly tilted to one side it can be
corrected by moving the rear vertical leg to one side
until the spirit bubble (D) shown below is level. This will
cause the dish to rotate on the supporting legs thus
ensuring the best signal can be achieved at all times.
Loosen
screw (B) and adjust the inner pole until the spirit
bubble (E) is level. This ensures the pole is vertical
and the degree markings on the bracket are accurate. If
the signal is not present at this stage the whole dish
assembly can be moved slightly left or right to achieve
the best possible satellite signal. If placing the dish
on concrete etc, the rear handle (C) can be tightened to
secure the legs into the desired position.
Step 5
(Secure to the ground)
Step
6 (Packs away when not in use)
The
dish can be placed onto directly onto concrete, earth or
onto an existing pole, if placing on earth 3 tent pegs
are supplied, these are inserted into the 2 front legs
and rear support to provide a very secure very stable
unit. NB: The centre of gravity is much lower and
therefore more sturdy than most portable dishes
currently on the market.
The
dish can be packed away in seconds when not in use.
Once the tent pegs have been removed, loosen handle (A)
and remove the dish. The dish arm can be folded up
together with the support poles.
Other
Features
Pole Mounted: The dish can also
be fitted to an existing pole via the adaptor brackets
supplied, simply remove the rear tube and insert the
pole adaptor bracket.
NB: The elevation guide and spirit bubble will still be
accurate even if the pole is not vertical.
Or
Dish
Separates from rear bracket.
This is useful when packing away after use. Loosen
handle (A) and unclip the bracket from the dish, the dish arm can be
folded as below. The bottom supporting tubes are pivoted and
can also be folded away.
If placing the dish on concrete etc, the rear handle (C)
can be tightened to prevent any rotational movement
between the tubes.
Sturdy Due to the design the weight of the dish face is
directly supported by the leg and avoids the top heavy
weight normally associated with a pole mount dish. The
weight of the unit is distributed in a circular motion, IE the dish is
supported by the leg which forces the rear leg back
which pushes the dish back onto the leg. This results in
a very sturdy yet lightweight dish with a more stable lower centre
of gravity.
Tilting
the dish for uneven ground If the ground in unduly sloping the rear leg can be
moved left or right, this rotates the dish resulting in
better satellite reception.
Folding
LNB arm. A useful feature with portable satellite dishes.
