Useful Notes

Aligning the Sky dish:

A large number of people telephone us to say that they are receiving good signal strength on their Sky digital receivers but no signal quality and no signal lock.

This shows that the dish is aligned to another satellite and is not registering the Sky data, the Sky signal ident is 0002 (April 2005) if it shows any other number then it is not Sky.

Instructions are provided with all our Sky receivers.

Grundig Receiver Faults:

We have come across several Grundig receivers that appear to be faulty once the card is inserted. The receiver seems to be unable to read the card information it switches off, major pixelling occurs, flashing colours etc. This is common amongst Grundig receivers with a certain chassis and it may not be faulty. With these receivers the card needs to be inserted before the receiver is switched on, this allows the receiver to boot up whilst reading the card, allow one minute before bringing out of standby and all should be working correctly.

The new cards being issued by Sky (January 2003) can give the receiver the impression that no card is inserted, try a download with the card inserted, this can last for up to 20 minutes and should cure the problem.
